About This Piece
A small, heavy bowl in which a measured portion of ashes is blended into the glaze itself and then kiln fired, so they become part of the surface rather than something sealed inside it.
We need roughly a teaspoon. The remainder is returned to you with the finished piece, along with a written note of exactly what we used and what came back — we think you should never have to wonder about that.
This works for people and for animals. Ash chemistry varies, so the final colour shifts slightly between pieces; we will show you a photograph before it ships.
Questions
How long does the Ash-Glazed Keepsake Bowl take to arrive?
This piece is made to order. 5-7 weeks from receiving ashes Once finished it is posted with tracking, which typically adds 2-7 days.
What is the Ash-Glazed Keepsake Bowl made from?
Stoneware, ash-infused glaze. Every piece is shaped and finished by hand, so small variations between pieces are normal and expected.
How do I send hair or ashes for this piece?
Request a commission and we will reply with simple, clearly written posting instructions. A small snippet of hair, or roughly a teaspoon of ashes, is plenty. Any remainder is always returned to you with the finished piece.
Can this piece be recreated exactly?
No, and that is deliberate. The markings form as the hair carbonises against hot clay, so the pattern cannot be repeated. Each commission is genuinely one of a kind.
